Classes include:
Playschool (1 hour)
- For children between walking age and 5 years.
- $9 per class casual fee.
- Fees are based on a term basis
- Develops motor skills and provides social opportunities through traditional gymnastics, games, craft and music.
- Parents are requested to accompany their child to provide extra support.
- Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9.30 – 10.30 (up to 2.5 years) and 10.30-11.30am (2.5 years plus).
Kiddy Gym (45 min)
- Entry level class which teaches basic fundamental gymnastics skills in a fun and stimulating way.
- For children 2-4 years.
- Parents may assist their child through the session.
- This class runs in a structured and disciplined way and requires parents to pre-book and pay for the term.
Preschool Gym (45min)
- Entry level gymnastics class for 3-5 year olds.
- Whilst enjoyment is the key focus, the class focuses on proper teaching of gymnastics skills.
- Children participate in this class without direct parental involvement.
Fun Gym (1.5 hours)
- Entry level gymnastics class for 5-7 year olds. Provides a great fitness workout.
- This class is a good starting point to trial gymnastics for children between 5-7 years.
- No specific gymnastics experience required for this class.
Girls - Stage 0 (1.5 hours)
- This class is the first step in the stage program that develops the child’s ability to execute routines relevant to competition.
- By the end of this program children should have a basic ability to perform handstands, forward rolls, cartwheels and bridges and move on the beam with confidence. They should be able to swing comfortably and perform basic skills on bars.
- It is preferred that the child has attended gymnastics before although children of higher than normal fitness and flexibility may attempt this class without prior experience.
- Recommended for children of 5-9 years.
Stage 1 - girls or boys (2 hours)
- This stage represents the next step toward competitive gymnastics.
- The class focuses on development of more advanced physical skills and movement patterns and combinations. The prerequisite is purely skill based with no age limit.
- This class normally requires the child to have prior experience at Stage 0, Fun Gym or equivalent although children of higher than normal fitness and flexibility may attempt this class without prior experience.
- It is recommended that the child has an existing ability to perform handstands, forward rolls, cartwheels and bridges and move on the beam with confidence. They also need to be able to swing comfortably and perform basic skills on bars.
Stage 2 to 4 - girls or boys (2 hours)
- By the end of this class, children should possess the physical ability to engage in competitive gymnastics.
- The class focuses on fine-tuning skills learned in previous stages and further developing flexibility, concentration and strength.
- The class requires strong fitness, a good level of gymnastics experience and a determination to learn and master skills.
- Please Note: Class capacity is limited and bookings are essential.

General Parent Information
- CREDITS OR MAKE UPS: Credits or makeup lessons will be granted when the YMCA is required to cancel a lesson. Credits or make-ups for other instances will not be given unless in extreme circumstances, such as prolonged illness. In these cases the co-ordinator needs to be contacted in writing along with a medical certificate to explain the circumstances.
- CHECKING IN: Each student enrolled in the program will be required to register their attendance prior to the commencement of their activity.
- CHILDMINIDING: Our child minding facility is available for use during morning classes up to 11am. Children must be aged 6 weeks or over and have been immunised. See reception for more information.
- SUPERVISION: Regardless of the level reached by your children the YMCA recommends that all children are to be supervised by a guardian at all times . Please ensure that you supervise children that are not attending a gymnastics session.
- SAFETY: The YMCA wishes to remind the parents that participants and siblings are not to play on equipment before or after their session. Only children participating in a class will be aloud on the equipment.
- DRESS: We would like to encourage all children to wear sensible , comfortable clothing. No loose clothing. Please beware we have both boys and girls in some classes and appropriate clothing for both sexes would be appreciated. A Lycra leotard is recommended but not compulsory.
- DRINK BOTTLES: We would recommend that all children bring a water bottle to each session, there are water fountains provided to refill your bottles.
- FOOD: Please remember that NO food is to be eaten on the gymnastics floor. Food may be eaten at the seated area around the stadium
