What Parents Are Saying

“KinderGym has been such a great program for my kids. It has grown their confidence, coordination and strength. The activities are fun but perfectly challenge their little brains. I love that it includes gross motor, fine motor and rhythmic activities.

It is my kids favourite activity of the week and I think it really helps them with their development and school readiness."
Simone, KinderGym Parent

In KinderGym classes at the Y, children enjoy free play and structured activities that build coordination, balance and confidence in a fun and child-safe environment.

    Gym Bubs

    Crawlers to 3-year-olds (Parent Assistance)
Bubs build strength, coordination and body awareness through fun sensory play and movement like gripping, swinging, bending and crawling. Through easy obstacle courses they'll practise balance, jumping and more.

    Gym Tots

2.5 to 4-year-old children (Parent Assistance)
Children build confidence and independence while improving strength, balance and coordination. Through guided play and simple routines, they learn to follow instructions, take turns and work with others.

    Gym Kids

4-year-old to Pre-Prep age (No Parent Assistance)
Kids explore more advanced skills with coach support, building strength, focus and confidence. Classes encourage independence and prepare children for school through structured movement and teamwork.

Do you offer a trial class?

Every one of our seven Gymnastics centres offer trial classes. You can book by filling out this form. Once the booking is made, the centre will advise you of the relevant details for your child to attend. Please note that by booking into a trial class, you are accepting full responsibility for your child/ren’s participation in Y gymnastics activities, and agreeing to YMCA's Terms & Conditions for Casual and Trial Classes.

What do I bring to a KinderGym class?

Please bring a clearly named water bottle. Participants are to wear suitable sports clothes to gymnastics. Long hair must be tied back (with no large accessories) and all jewellery must be removed. For safety reasons, participants should not wear clothing with denim, buttons, belts or zips.

What happens after our trial class?

During a trial class, the coach will monitor your child's ability to participate in the activities, and their current skill level. After your trial, the Centre will contact you — within 48 hours (business days) — to find out if your child enjoyed the class, pass on the coach's feedback from the trial, and hopefully enrol your child in ongoing classes.

    How much do classes cost?

KinderGym prices start from $20.50 per class, payable fortnightly via Direct Debit. Casual Gym Play classes (no enrolment required) are $15.50 per session.

If you'd like to discuss pricing for our KinderGym program further, please contact us.

    What is the Registration Fee?

An annual (calendar year) registration fee is required for each Y Queensland Gymnastics enrolment. This covers the member’s Gymnastics Australia insurance costs and the Y's administration fees for the year. Your child's class fees are payable on top of this annual fee. If you are transferring your child from a different club to the Y, we will arrange for the registration you already paid to them to be transferred to the Y. You will not need to pay another registration fee until the start of the new calendar year (January).

The 40%-Off Registration Fees payable during this promotion will cover your child for the remainder of this calendar year. (The discount will be automatically applied to all new enrolments made between 16th October 2025 and 31st Decmber 2025.)

What if we miss a class?

If your child is due to miss class, you need to mark them as "Absent" in our Online Member Portal. If you are unable to do this, please contact your centre and advise that your child will not be attending their class. A Make-Up Voucher will be applied to your account. You can then book in your make-up lesson via our Online Member Portal. If you are unable to do this yourself, you may request help from centre staff. We do not offer refunds for missed classes.

We encourage members to use their Make-Up Vouchers before the end of the Block in which they were accrued, but they will remain active until the end of Block 4 (usually in December) when they expire. Please note that, occasionally, classes are full and cannot accommodate make-up gymnasts. We recommend booking make-up lessons over school holiday periods, as many families travel, leaving classes less attended than usual.

Can I observe my child during class? Or can I simply drop and run?
For KinderGym classes that do not require parental involvement (Gym Kids) and for other gymnastics levels, all centres have a viewing area from which parents can watch their child's classes. And while parents of school-aged children are welcome to drop their children into the building, leave, then return to pick their children up, we require all parents of KinderGym kids to stay in our building and accessible to staff during class times, in case there are any difficulties with their young children's participation in class.
Can I speak with my child's coach about their progress?
If you're in class with your child (Gym Bubs, Gym Tots, Family Gym), feel free to chat with your coach during or after your lesson. Other than that, you may be able to arrange a chat via the Reception staff — depending on coach availability.
My child has a disability and requires extra support. Is KinderGym suitable?
The Y is an inclusive Gymnastics provider, and we welcome children with disabilities and those who require extra support. As disabilities and capabilities vary greatly between individuals, it's best to contact the centre before booking in, to determine whether the centre will be able to accommodate your child's disability and needs. If it's deemed that a group class environment is not suitable for your child, you may be able to book them into paid private lessons depending on the centre, and you may be able to claim these lessons through the NDIS (parent-managed).
What measures does the organisation take to ensure children's safety?

The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our absolute priority. We have a zero-tolerance approach to abuse of any kind and are committed to ensuring our gymnastics programs remain safe, supportive, and positive environments. Across all Y centres, we uphold:

    • Rigorous staff checks and valid Blue Cards
    • Mandatory child safety training for all staff
    • Strict codes of conduct
    • Transparent, supervised programs
    • Child-safe reporting channels for concerns
    • Regular policy reviews to reflect best practice

Y Queensland has been accredited as a Childsafe Organisation by the Australian Childhood Foundation. The ACF ‘Independently Reviewed’ stamp is a sign of assurance that the Y is a safe place for your children and young people. Read more about Safeguarding Children and Young People at Y Queensland.
