Free Trial Classes: Gymnastics & Learn to Swim

Come and try a trial Gymnastics or Learn to Swim class at the Y! With qualified coaches, custom-built facilities, passionate staff, and huge range of class options.

Ever wondered if your little one is a future Olympian or a water-loving fish? Or maybe you're ready to embrace a new challenge yourself! Our expert instructors are ready to guide you or your child through engaging and safe trial classes:

  • Gymnastics: Tumble, jump, and soar! Experience the joy of movement, build confidence, and develop coordination in our fun-filled gymnastics environment. It's a fantastic way to burn energy and learn amazing new skills.
  • Learn to Swim: From cautious paddlers to confident strokes, our learn-to-swim program builds essential water safety skills and fosters a lifelong love for swimming. Dive into a trial class and see how quickly you (or your child!) can make a splash!

The YMCA regards its role in the protection of children in their care as of the utmost importance.  The YMCA has a range of policies and procedures to keep children and young people safe. Details of these policies are available at www.ymcaqueensland.org. Please take the time to read these policies to better understand our guiding principles and how you can report child safety concerns that you may have.  Your feedback is always appreciated.  All staff hold a blue card to work with children and have been made aware of and trained in the Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy of the YMCA of Brisbane.

Behaviour Expectations - All participants are required to behave appropriately and follow all reasonable directions from YMCA staff. Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in my child being removed from activities.

Clothing Requirements - Participants are to wear suitable sports clothes to gymnastics. Long hair must be tied back (with no large hair accessories) and all jewelry must be removed. For safety reasons, participants should not wear clothing with denim, buttons, belts or zips.

Medical Conditions or Injuries - Please advise the YMCA of any medical conditions, allergies, physical limitations or mental health concerns that may be relevant to participation in gymnastics. All participants must be in good health and free from any adverse medical conditions. By signing this form, I confirm that I / my child/children have no medical conditions that would affect them safety while participating in this these activities. In the event of an injury or medical emergency, I hereby authorise YMCA staff to provide first aid or seek medical treatment for my child. I understand that I will be responsible for any medical expenses incurred

Potential for Injury - I understand that gymnastics and physical activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to falls, slips, landing improperly, friction burns or other physical injury, or other accidents.  Despite the Y taking all reasonable care, such the risks constitute 'inherent risk' for the purposes of the relevant legislation, including for the purpose of Section 16 of the Civil Liability Act 2003 (Qld). By signing this form, I acknowledge that I have been informed of the nature of the gymnastics activities and the associated risks, and I voluntarily accept those risks for myself and my child / children

Participation in class activities is voluntary, and no person will be forced to participate in any activity if they choose not to. Participants should not attempt skills or activities that they are not familiar or competent with.

Insurance - Casual Gymnastics at the Y is not covered by personal accident insurance that will provide coverage in case of any accidents or injuries. I agree to be responsible for any and all costs and medical expenses that may arise from my / my child’s participation in this program.

Media Release - Children may be photographed or filmed during gymnastic classes for promotional purposes. The YMCA assumes permission to use this content unless indicated by ticking the Media Release Opt-out when signing in. 

Refunds - YMCA fees are non-refundable.

WAIVER: By signing this form, I accept full responsibility for my / my child/ children’s participation in YMCA gymnastics activities. Your guest pass must be redeemed within 7 days from the day this pass is issued. Your pass is valid for 5 consecutive days commencing on, and including, the date on which the pass is redeemed at your nominated Y Queensland club.

> Terms & Conditions

1. The “Free 5 Day Pass” offer is limited to one Free Pass per person and valid for first time Y Queensland users only who are non-members. The user must live or work in the local area to their selected Y Queensland Fitness & Recreation Centre.

2. Prior to accessing the Y, Free Pass holders must:

  • Provide proof of photo identification;
  • Provide name, age, address and phone number/email address;
  • Read, understand and agree to any terms of entry and the YMCA Code of Conduct; and
  • Read, understand and agree to any waiver and indemnity required by Y Queensland.

3. A Free Pass can only be used in accordance with the YMCA Age Policy which restricts access and usage of certain equipment to minors.

  • Children under the age of 12 years are not permitted in the gym.
  • Young people aged 12–15 years must be supervised by a parent or guardian (over 18 years) at all times, when in the gym or participating in a class (except when enrolled in a fitness program specifically for young people).
  • 24/7 access is only available to persons over 18 years of age, unless specifically authorised by the Club Manager.

4. The Free Pass allows access to their selected Y Queensland Centre during staffed hours only.

5. The Free Pass must be activated within 7 days from the date that the Free Pass is sent to the user. It is only valid from the day of activation.

6. Free Passes that are not activated before the expiry date are void.

7. The Free Pass is valid only at the selected Y Queensland Centre selected at the time of registering for the Free Pass.

8. The Free Pass includes basic club access only including group fitness, weights and cardio (subject to the YMCA Age Policy) and Pool usage (if available at selected Y Queensland Club). Unless expressly stated on the Free Pass, a Free Pass does not include any additional products or services such as personal training, specialist programs, or Allied Health services.

9. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, nor can the Free Pass be redeemed for cash.

10. Y Queensland may contact the user of the Free Pass via email, SMS, telephone or by such other means for administrative and/or marketing purposes.

11. The user of the Free Pass agrees to the YMCA Queensland Terms & Conditions and accepts that their personal information will be handled in accordance with the YMCA Queensland Privacy Policy
